Jean-Eric Vergne

This is my race engineer Javier Pujolar. I took the photo while waiting for him to finish an interview with Spanish TV before we went to do our pre-race weekend track walk at the Austrian Grand Prix. Apart from Fernando Alonso, there are not that many Spanish people in the F1 paddock, so Xevi, as everyone calls him, is in big demand with the Spanish media. He takes it all in his stride, as he is very a calm person, a characteristic which is very useful for a race engineer, as it’s a very high pressure job. We have only worked together since the start of this year. He is very experienced and I have learned a lot from him about how to get the most out of the race car and we have a really nice relationship.
