When Formula E launched in 2014 it was clear that its mix of top class drivers, famous teams and glamorous racing locations made it the perfect match for Zoom’s first expansion outside Formula One.
All of the teams and drivers took part in order to benefit two very worthwhile causes: Formula E’s Official International Foundation Partners, ONE DROP and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
Zoom gives fans the chance to see the world through the eyes of a racing driver as the participants can take a photo of whatever subject they choose, from behind-the-scenes at a race to relaxing at home with their pets to the glamorous destinations visited on their travels.
All the photographers put their heart into the challenge, resulting in a diverse collection of photos which show both insider views from the track and personal memories from outside the world of racing.
The photographs have been collected together in this book and take you on a journey through the lives of Formula E’s superstars. They allow you to see the glamour of Monaco from a distance through Bruno Senna’s mountaintop selfie and close up through Alejandro Agag’s view from trackside on his yacht in the harbour. The range of photographs spans continents, taking you from Scott Speed’s shot of monkeys in Barbados, to Lucas di Grassi’s self portrait in Times Square, to Sébastien Buemi’s front garden in Switzerland and Karun Chandhok’s view from the East Coast Road between Chennai and Pondicherry. We even have Zoom's first underwater shot with Nelson Piquet’s amazing underwater selfie with a turtle.
These photographs by Formula E’s 20 drivers, 10 team bosses and eight special guests were autographed by them and framed in a montage more than 1.3m by 1.1m in size for auction at the series’ end of season Awards Gala in London.
All the Formula E teams, team bosses and drivers played an essential part in making this happen and we sincerely thank them along with everyone else who has donated a photo. We would also like to thank Zoom’s partners: Trident Communications, Le Méridien Beach Plaza and our framing partner Arena Imaging, who all helped to make this event possible.
Special thanks need to go to everyone at Formula E for their support. We are proud to play a part in helping their partner charities continue their inspiring work.
